Personality:
Miku is an android of sorts, and was originally intended for nothing more than singing. However, the little diva gained some free will, along with popularity, and began to develop her own personality.

This little Miku is portrayed as a bright and cheerful thing. She's quite upbeat and energetic, just about always smiling like a goofball. Miku is quite optimistic--- she has no reason not to be, as this little thing has experienced very little failure-- and loving towards her fans and fellow Vocaloids.
The "real world" confuses Miku ever so slightly, but she's inspired by her duty as a Vocaloid to learn more about the world around her so that she can bring more emotion into her songs. The little leek head has a bit of a spacey personality at times, and is guilty of occasionally zoning out when it comes to her number one passion; Music. Nothing can override Miku's love of singing.

Because yes, Miku is an idol. Have you ever looked her up on youtube or Nico Nico Douga? She's got an insane fanbase and thousands of songs have been sung by her since her creation. Despite being a virtual idol, Miku has even had whole concert events and there are plenty of Miku merchandise floating around. She's a very popular piece of software, and character... and this particular portrayal of Miku knows it. Having never really met much failure (except one incident that was resolved with an addition to her voicebank), Miku really has no reason not to be confident in herself. She recognizes that she kicked off the big wave of Vocaloid popularity and cheerfully considers herself to be "living a life of royalty". Hatsune Miku can be very spoiled by her popularity, getting jealous of the newer Vocaloids when they steal her spotlight and basking in happiness when she's used in songs and featured in PVs (Promotion Videos).

Okay, so now you know why she's called a Diva. But even when considering the fact that Miku loves her popularity--- the costume changes, the shows, the bits of money, and everything else that comes with it--- her motivations really boil down to two things; making people happy and singing. She doesn't expect all of the PVs, video views, costume designs, etc. that she gets, and is perfectly content not to get them, as long as she gets to sing a song and make people smile. Though sometimes it can be hard to tell that these are her primary motives, as this airhead can occasionally slip out seemingly bratty phrases like "At least it pays well".

Letting insensitive things slip is an accidental Miku trait. She's an airhead and does not always think before she speaks. Sometimes Miku will say things that come off as mean to her siblings, but it always boils down to her having some sort of good and loving intention. Sure, it might seem harsh when she says "I'll sing this song for you since I'm more popular anyway!" or "Why don't I duet with you? Then you'll get hits from my fanbase and your song will be more popular!", but she has good intentions. Miku doesn't want her siblings to be unhappy singing any song and she truly does want them to be loved by the fans... She'd just rather they weren't any more popular than her.

Miku has only had one "failure", and it was easily mixed. However, the incident of her voice bank not being flexible enough (according to her fanbase) inspired another important Miku trait; she is a pretty hard worker. I can't really say she's a "very" hard worker, because sometimes Miku would rather flop on the floor and watch TV than help out her siblings, but when it comes to her duty as a singer, Miku does her best. In Hatsune Mix, Miku "crashes" at least twice when she puts too much strain on herself while trying to sing for people. She's the type to push herself very hard in order to perform well in a song or PV.

Other than music, Miku's other love is leeks. Negi. You know, onions? She seems to enjoy eating them raw, and gets upset when people eat "HER" leeks, which she buys herself as treats. Miku likes anything with leek flavoring as well, but when given the choice, she would much rather eat them raw.
