Yes, it would be pretty insulting to the intelligence of the trainees to think that they are too stupid to escape abuse and slavery (both of which are illegal in South Korea, for those that may think otherwise). They work harder than many people trying to get that golden 10,000 hours that Koreans think makes a person good at what they do. In fact, some diascover later that joining the army is a welcome vacation from training and they have lots more free time. But to think that they could keep smiling and getting along with one another in the face of horrible mistreatment is ridiculous. No contract terms can make people look happy nearly all the time.
