I found out tonight that Mr. Weitzel, my page school history teacher, passed away. He’d been struggling with cancer for the past two years, and had been in remission for a while before taking a turn for the worse again this past February. In a way, I’m grateful to be in DC right

I got the link from the facebook group.

That reminded me of a time my year when Melanie Tate fell asleep, and Weitzel made her stand up for the rest of class. After a while of standing up, she fell asleep again. It was the only time Weitzel had ever seen such a thing, and similarily the only time he then responded with empathy to someone sleeping in his class.

Thanks so much for that remembrance of Ron. He married into our family and I only knew him a few years but its nice to hear about a side I never saw. It sounds like he really touched a lot of lives.
