In the spirit of history, Jonathan Coulton had a pneumonic device-type song for remembering presidents (Washy Ad Jeffy) and They Might Be Giants have some other really great president songs (Tippecanoe and Tyler Too, James K. Polk) and some science-y ones too (The Sun Is A Mass Of Incandescent Gas), but they might be a little advanced for fourth grade. They were fun for APUSH though.

I'd recommend pretty much anything from the various Wesley Road Trip mixes, though the kids might not get a kick from the 90s nostalgia as much as we do.

Were these kids even born in the 90s?

Also, They Might Be Giants are awesome. The animaniacs also have a song for all the states' capitals.

Also, jams are cool, just make sure that they do not distract the kids when they are supposed to be working. And remember, classical is cool too!

If I remember anything from my younger years, it's that after listening to a few songs the class will pick one that they love to itty bitty pieces and will request it all the time until the opening refrains make you want to weep in agony.

Just sayin'

And studies do show that classical music helps people think/work better, but I'd say the same for good instrumentals.

Get ready for a ton of Hannah Montana/Jonas Brothers/Disneyfied regurgitated crap.
