The Tension Mounts

The Governor's race here in Massachusetts is going down to the wire. All four referendum questions went opposite to the way I voted. It looks as if my long-term State Senator, whom I voted for, is going to lose to a guy named Fattman ( Read more... )

If the Republicans take over, which appears to be about to happen, a majority of voters will be so disgusted with them that the Democrats will fare much better in two years. Wishful thinking? Maybe.
That's apparently what happened. While it sucks on one hand because you don't know what the republicans will do in those two years that could be damaging, if they do fuck up...as you said, Democrats will get the power back in 2016.

The good news about the Senate in 2016 is that a lot more Republicans than Democrats will be up for re-election. This year, the Republicans needed to capture way more seats to take over than the Democrats will need in 2016 to take it back.

That's what my SO was saying when I asked him last night about what he thought about the election (my SO is into politics in both Sweden and the U.S)

This is slightly more optimistic than I've been thinking, haha. Though, what Republicans will do to disgust people and whether that damage will be undone after 2016 remains to be seen.

I'm concerned and disappointed. But hoping things turn out all right.

Yeah, I'll admit I'm a little nervous. At least they don't have a big enough majority to override a veto.
