Mac Hate (with MS resentment)

Apr 17, 2009 17:59

I thought Macs would be different. I just finished writing my senior presentation, beginning to end. When I went to save it, the program collapsed. I couldn't find the automatic back up and had to start over. Its due today.

Fuck.

The program collapsing was the quit. I looked around for an ~filename but couldn't find it. When I reopened the program, all changes were gone.

I don't know what program you're using, but most have an autosave that may or may not have the same filename as your original file. Check (ironically) the trash - you'll find files in there called "Recovered Files" that may have your changes. Also, check your preferences - if you're using Powerpoint or Word, it should be set to autosave every five minutes and will indicate where those autosaves are. I frequently find the autosave adds nonsense characters or numbers into the filename that makes finding them difficult, so I have the preferences set to autosave to a particular backup file where I can always find them.

Good luck. :( I know how it sucks to start over from scratch.
