As for the pigeons... hmm, yeah, ethics problem. If it were me, I'd leave them where they are. I mean, it would be interesting - you could take pics of the baby bird's progress of hatching out of their eggs, growing up and flying away!
Though perhaps your presence in the apartment will frighten the mother bird away. At the very least they might be entertaining for your cats, or even food for your cats. ;)

The egg and the nest are gone. I mean, there was an ethical quandary, yes, but I read my paper in the morning on the balcony. I need this. :-) (At least, I did; my orientation starts at 7:30 tomorrow so I doubt I get paper time anymore)
