Personal History: Santana used to be a nice girl, right up until she started high school anyway. Her parents were more distanced, working more then actually spending time with her at home, she grew more bitter about it. Also around that time she realised that she wasn't the same as everyone else, she didn't feel anything about boys like the rest of her friends went on about. She became a bitch to find her deferences and her pain about her parents, and started seeing guys and sleeping around.
Santana became a Cheerio not because she enjoyed cheerleading but because that put you on top and if she was on top and a bitch who would be able to hurt her? So it was of no great loss when she quit.

My dad bailed on our weekly family dinner again. I don't see why I have to waste my time hanging around waiting for him when all he's going to do is cancel last minute. I could be spending my time doing something of much more importance, like breaking my pledge to Mr Schue and getting blitz'd. Or making little Freshman cry.
Third Person
Santana strutted down the corridor with and air of confidence that she wasn't feeling inside, sending glares to anyone who dared to look her way. Despite her love of Glee club, she knew that it was the only reason she ever stated having problems with hiding who she really was inside.
Arriving in Glee slightly late, Santana prepared herself for a many witty bitchy comments that she could come up with. The more she bitched at them the less they were likely to try and break down her walls, something Brittany was already causing to crumble.
