"Polkas on 45" is a medley, of course, so you probably meant the original, and I don't know what that was. But those lyrics are the first in the medley.

9. sounds like lyrics from the middle of "The Light is always Green (for a young male pop star)" by The Housemartins: "And we dig conversations / with girls from every nation / but not the one who whisper or tell lies."

i'm afraid Weird Al isn't close enough, though....

and #9 isn't the Housemartins. keep guessing. :)

Heh, I seem to get a lot of culture via the comic route-- Weird Al, The Daily Show, Mad Magazine (back in the day). And I know 9 wasn't The Housemartins, it was just an observation.
