That gave me chills just reading this--Thank you for posting it. I'm sure everyone, in NYC and all over the country, has that "What if..." feeling, wishing things could have been done differently or that they could have taken different actions. I know I feel that way--one of my dad's best friends died that day, and unfortunately we had lost touch over the years. There are just so many things I look back on and wish that I could change, but...that's life.
Tracee, I'm so sorry that you lost a friend on September 11th. I can't even begin to imagine what that must feel like. You really did them both a service by taking the time to post such a poignant account. Big hugs to you.
So poignant I read it three times. Not that all roads lead to QAF, but while reading your post I was reminded why The Color Series was one-of-a-kind writing in the most amazing way. It's you kid. Outstanding.
What I loved most about this is the way you ended it, telling us to smile, and that the most important thing is that they were amazing men. That's the thing I think people forget the most, is that the tragedy is over and the people are lost and the only thing we can do is remember them as they were. I don't think I've ever commented in your journal before, but I really wanted to comment on this. Thanks so much for sharing it. *hugs*
