Martian Chronicles

I'm rereading the Martian Chronicles, by Ray Bradbury.

The short stories, written in the late 40s and early 50s are based in the "future" of 1999-2026. Most of the plot happens in 2005 or earlier.

i remember noticing something similar went I went through an Asimov phase years ago, but I think Bradbury, and particularly the Martian Chronicles, has more staying power. But I should reread it because I remember loving it. Sci-Fi does seem to hold an interesting mirror on the past.

Nothing specific. I just see you in the style and substance of a good number of the stories.

General themes in there that I connect you with are a general feeling of awe, this great respect for the intrinsic nature of things, a spiritual/metaphysical connection to surroundings, and a compassion for living things (especially people). Also, the political (anti-war, feminist, anti-violence, free-speech, anti-hate, etc.) messages, but not primarily.

Nice to fake see you, Charles. If I hadn't so much on my plate to read right now, I'd rush out and get this. It sounds awesome. Maybe when it's my turn to pick for my book club.
