I'm glad you had such a pleasant time finding health care in Germany. Anywhere is better than the US but it seems Germany is especially good!! Miss you...but it is great getting to read about your adventures on this blog!! Love ya!

I got sick while in Leipzig and found a great Apotheke with a pharmacist who helped me find some natural remedies that made me feel wonderful, despite my cold. I wish we had more naturopathy here that was affordable.

I'm also sad that I missed the chance to see you and to meet Rosebud before you left. Guess I'll have to come see you - oh DARN! ;)

I am not sure what a "fortune" is, but I thought I would leave you a message. Thanks so much for this update on the three of you. What a compliment to you that the Dr. commented on your good German. How fortunate for the three of you to have Drs. lined up and of course I am really excited to know that Ronni is starting to craw and sit up. Neat!

I flew back from Orlando last night, leaving 70 degree and sunny weather to a blizzard and ice storm. I had left my car in a long term parking lot at the Cincinnati Air Port and the driver of the van got out when we arrived at my car and cleaned off the windows and shoveled the snow away from my car so I could leave. I got home driving very slowly and since the ice and snow has been so heavy and messy, everything is closed down. Margo and I are home today, and for two hours this AM we had no power. The house got really cold. But all is well now.

Do take care and we will be talking soon over the web cam I am sure.

Love, Dad, Larry and PaPa

I just read your first four Penzberg entries back to back- it sounds like you all are having such a great time, other than odd outlet configurations and illnesses :-) What a great story about the pharmacist and pediatrician too. It's funny, pharamacies in the US are all about filling perscriptions and buying miscellaneous health/household items. It seems like many other countries have more involved & proactive pharmacies. In Brazil, a pharmacist can perscribe a number of medications and will actively recommend over the counter items as well. When I got sick there, I first got a perscription straight from a pharmacy (based solely on Fred's dad being a regular patron), and then got a stronger perscription over the phone from a doctor friend of the family. I'm sure the US medical system would flip out at the "unregulated" nature, but it was extremely personalized and I didn't have to trek around the massive city feeling crappy ( ... )
