Uh....anyone know the rules on pet tanuki? Went to the forge this morning and found one curled up in my workspace. It's a good thing I had everything picked up and stored properly so nothing got knocked down or lost, but now it's following me around like I'm its mom or something. It's not very big, either, so I think it got lost from its family or ( Read more... )

Well, it seems Tezuka has a pet fox things I find when I get home, so I don't see why you couldn't keep a tanuki.

Yeah, you're probably right on that. I hope she gets along well with Bon, though now I need to figure out what the heck to call her.

Oh, so the fox is called Bon. Good to know~ I haven't had the chance to ask.

Let me know if you figure out a name and when it's alright to visit. I've never seen a tanuki for real.

Still working on a name, Niou-san's the only one to have suggested one so far. You're welcome to drop by any time, she doesn't seem to be going anywhere anytime soon.

Oh my god can I come see? Can I name her? I'm fantastic at names.

Yes, you can come see her. You can suggest a name if you want, but I make no promises that I will go with it. I might get a better suggestion or come up with something better myself. I'd also be interested in any ideas you have for how to give her a spot to climb up to, since I've read that tanuki like to climb trees.

I'll bring some dog food or something for her to eat.

I want to call her The Phoenix Queen and nickname her something like... Mii-chan.

Also, how are you feeling about letting her join a band? I think I have an opening for her. It would increase social skills and combine it with lots of fun and learning new skills.

That'll make you popular with her for sure. Don't leave any small birds you like unattended around her if she's hungry though. I think she'll go for them if she thinks she can take one down. Tezuka-senpai's fox is probably more dangerous to birds, though.

Eh...maybe.

Hey, if you can motivate her to do it and keep her from pooing on everything, by all means. She's been super chill and just hanging out in the forge watching me all day, so good luck.

I get followed by things all the time. Though I normally shoo them away before I get home. If you wanted a girl to keep you company you should have just said so earlier, nii-chan~

She only started following me after I found her in the forge.

Well it seems you've already decided to keep her anyway so it's not like you'll be stopped.

If you've got any name ideas, I'm open to them.

It was probably drawn to the heat. You may want to attempt finding its family, lest you wake up with the mother biting your nose.

I've been trying to keep an eye out for them in the surrounding woods, but no luck yet. I'll keep trying, though.

Like most animals, they will have better luck finding you, than you do them. If you can get the tanuki to rest on a piece of cloth, try leaving that out near the forge on a clear night. See if that may lure them out.

Would the towel I used to dry her after her bath work, do you think? I could leave it by the back door of the forge.
