The Sleepwalker
“Anakin?”
Jacen stepped just outside the door that opened onto the wooden deck that ran across three sides of the building. A railing attached to it and it was over this that Jacen’s younger brother, Anakin, was leaning precariously, staring out across the vast bluish-green ocean that stretched in the distance.
“Anakin? Anakin, what are you doing?”
“I…I can’t see him anymore.”
“See who?”
The younger boy’s voice dropped to a whisper. “Chewie. I can’t find him.”
Jacen swallowed the hard lump in his throat. He walked slowly to the other boy and very carefully put his arms around him.
“Come back to bed, Anakin.”
