Generation Numbers ??

Sorry if this has been asked before but when you read legacies it goes like.. Gen. 2.0 - 2.1 - 2.2  and on and on for more generations .. I was wondering...
Is the numbers after the period the number of kids in the generation or the part of the generation .. or something else ??

Im just kind of confused on that .
Thanks in advance ( Read more... )

It's the chapter/part number. So, for example, "Gen 2.1" means "Generation 2, chapter 1" or "Generation 2, part 1"

It actually depends on the person writing the legacy. For most people, it's part/chapter numbers. But the switch point changes from person to person. Most people switch generations when the heir is chosen and ages to adult or goes to uni and ages to young adult. But there are some people who switch to the next generation number when the first baby that belongs to the next generation is born. The part after the period usually refers to the chapter number, though.

Having said that, I have seen at least one person who uses the other numbering system suggested by you, ie. they number it by number of children, so the first update of generation 2 might be 2.0, but the next one was "2.1 to 2.3". This is extremely rare and I have only come across it once in all the legacies that I have read. Not that I have read all of the ones that get posted, mind you. But it's still very rare.
