Free Will?

I'm curious how many of you let your sims just run around with Free Will ON.  I have a problem with controlling EVERYONE in my legacy house and when you start getting lots of sims in your legacy house, it takes forever for time to pass in game.  I've tried doing ISBI, but I guess I'm anal about what my sims do.  For example, I can't stand sending ( Read more... )

When I play sims, I almost always had free will on. :D The only time when I usually didn't was when I was storytelling, needed to take pictures, and didn't want a random sim wandering onto the "set" so to speak.

I love free will. I love all the things the sims do when they are left alone... I think that's why the Asylum Challenge is still my all-time favorite challenge lol.

It's much more interesting with free will on. I don't play with it off, even when story telling. The things they get up to have changed the plot of my stories several times, but I don't mind that. I try to let my sims do what they want the majority of the time.

I personally made myself do ISBIs to break my micro-management habit. It's hard for them to do anything funny or develop much personality if their queue is always full of your commands.

On the subject of kids doing homework: I have a mod, which I think came from MTS2, that makes kids automatically do homework at 7pm as long as they're in a good enough mood. It's technically cheating in terms of legacy rules but for the sake of your own sanity it's terrific.

I'm SO glad I'm not the only micro-manager! I'll definitely check out that hack. I don't keep score for my legacy's but I don't use cheats like "motherlode" or any relationship/job hacks.

Isend them to do things I want, but I also let them run free. Installing ACR helped me loosen up a little, because I had to leave them alone if I wanted to see them interact (and I can't be bothered to make couples flirt with each other when I am busy making sure children stay off beds and toddlers dont' poop themselves).

Yeah, I love ACR for that too. I think it's funny catching my sims making out and knowing I didn't make them do it. :)

I used to micromanage, but then I started a family and let them have 13 children. With that many sims running about I couldn't keep up, so I had to let them do their own thing. Now I wouldn't have it any other way. For the most part, my sims do what they want. I really only intervene when someone's about to die or needs to skill. It's led to some interesting (and hilarious) behaviours.
