I broke someone's heart for the first time today.

It's a pretty awful thing to do, I don't wish it on any of you.

But it's for the best, and I think we'll still be friends. (3 hour long conversations are good for mending things.)

Sigh.

The other person is so sure that you're perfect for each other, so certain that you MUST feel the same way too... even in the face of obvious incompatability in that way...

It's SO painful... expecially when they refuse to believe it.

I wouldn't be so hasty with your judgments. She is a clever girl, and our reasons for splitting were not so obvious to her and came from me changing a lot over the summer and subtle, but very important incompatibilities. Now that she's had a week to think it over after talking to me, she is very aware of why we didn't work out at this point in our lives.

But thank you for your sentiments and it's good to be back, hopefully I'll see you sooner rather than later.

No judgement was made about your friend at all, as a matter of fact - I wasn't there, how could I possibly know what went down between the two of you? I as merely expressing MY experience of being in that position... SEVERAL times.

It sounds like she's grounded enough for all to end well, which is fabulous news indeed (not that its any of by business...)

As for seeing you - yes, sooner rather than later would be delightful.
