Angus hated waiting at the best of times, but he decided he waited it even more in a posh building like this. Everything was all so... glassy and leathery. It didn't help knowing the reason he was there, either. He was so scared and nervous about the whole thing, he was nearly feeling nauseous. He also couldn't stop wondering why the fuck he had put a go-slow on anything with Jules when his ex wife was off fucking her brains out and wanting dirty trips away to Spain without the baby so she could keep fucking her brains out. It fact, it was that little fact that had him so discontent. It was hard enough being around Jules and trying not to give in to anything, but to not even know anymore why he was doing it was doing it fucking head in. Why should he do without and be left with absolutely nothing, not even regular time with his daughter, while the bitch - who was just as a guilty of cheating as he was - was off living it up and only allowing him time with the baby when she needed a convenient babysitter? He shook his head to himself, shifting restlessly in the chair as he ran his hand through his hair.
It was taking all his effort not to get up and walk out, desperately wanting things clarified with regards to Keira the only thing keeping him there. But when Sophie's younger sister stormed past, it caught his attention to distract him momentarily. She looked hot and bothered to start with, and typically being a curious and nosy sort of guy, Gut watched the scene without even trying to hide the fact. She was practically family anyway, just like Tom was. It wasn't like he was being a total pain in the butt. It was only when she came running back past a few moments later looking more than a little bit upset - and strangely with her little brother chasing after her - that Gus' interest was more than piqued. It was weird. The fact Liam was even in Tom's office to start with was weird, and in scrubs to boot. Gus knew about Sophie's family. She had given him a bit of a run down at the party, but Stuart had also mentioned that Jessica was Tom's new Junior Associate of a few months, give or take. It made sense for her to be there. But why the brother? Why was the brother in Tom's office?
Gus was still trying to figure this one out, now perched on the edge of his seat with a confused frown on his face. It only got worse when the brother returned sans sister he was chasing, and went back into Tom's office with the door closed. Now, Gus never professed to be the brightest spark in the pack, he had his thick moments, usually when alcohol was involved, but this was just bewildering, and he was worried it might somehow affect Stuart peripherally. When his baby brother was involved, Gus never failed to swoop in head first to protect him. It was probably why he was up and out of his seat in a heartbeat, heading for the direction Jessica had disappeared in. A quick glance in the available offices didn't come up with anything and he soon reached the elevators. One of them was heading down to the ground floor it seemed. She didn't seem to be okay, so he just felt the need to check. Obviously the brother wasn't going to bother following her. After just a moment hesitation about sticking his nose in, Gus tugged the fire escape door open and bounded down the stairs. He might be short, but at least he was short and fast. All those years practice of being chased by a brother who was destined to be a professional footballer.
He reached the ground floor in the nick of time, just as the elevator doors dinged an swung open. "Jessica!" he called out and breached the gap between them when she stepped out. He decided his choice to follow her was sound when he saw the colour of her face. She looked like she had seen a ghost, and was maybe two steps from crying. It just made no sense when just proceeded to look worse at spotting Angus. "I was just waiting to meet with Tom, and you... I just wanted to make sure you were okay, love. You arenae, are you?"
Jess held her hands up, swallowing to try and fight back the urge to cry in a mix of anger and frustration. The shock was hard to fight through. How the fuck could Liam do that?! How the fuck could Tom let him? How fucking dare they fuck Stuart over like that! She didn't want to believe it, but there was no other way to explain what she had just witnessed. Her ears were ringing just from the sheer stress she was under. "Just... it's nothing! Go back to your appointment, Angus. You need it. It's nothing, alright? Just stupid sibling shit. I'm sure you understand that better than most." She tried to walk around him and hoped he wouldn't push, but he blocked her path and for a guy on the shorter side of life, he was a bloody good roadblock. The frustration just intensified and she promptly burst into tears, angry at herself for the reaction. "Fuck, fuck, FUCK!" she cursed to herself, dipping her head so he couldn't see her face.
"Aye, okay. I'll give you that. But it also means I'm pretty fecking awesome at solving sibling shit, too," Angus pointed out, taking her arm gently and steering her into an alcove of the building's busy foyer. She had caught peoples attention with the cursing, and he was pretty sure she didn't want her clients to witness her emotions, which seemed to be anger over something. Which made even less sense why Liam hadn't pursued her to fight it out or resolve it. This could be sibling territory he was unfamiliar with. If any of the Evans brothers argued, they usually fought it out with passion, even with slap down fights, but they always resolved it eventually one they had both said their piece.
"No... no, please don't push me! I can't tell you!" Jessica sobbed, feeling like she didn't actually deserve his concern because she was shared blood with the guy who just had his mouth wrapped around Gus' brother-in-law to be's cock. She gave him a gentle push, trying to get him to go back. "You need that appointment so your ex doesn't screw you over. Go back. Tom's wonderful at his job, he won't let you down," she insisted, wiping at her eyes with the backs of her fingers in an attempt to regain her composure. It was just too much, though, when she wanted to go back there and thump her brother in the face and call her boss all the names under the sun.
Angus felt a little like someone tipped cold water down his back. Now he just knew something was wrong, and knew it involved Stuart. His hackles came up and although he was still concerned for her, protectiveness of his family kicked in. He was going to get this information even if it killed him. "What did you just see in there?" he asked her quietly, leaning foward so he could see her face. "Jessica, if this involves Stuart... if something is going to hurt him, you will tell me. Or I'll go back there and ask your brother myself, and I willnae be as polite," he warned, hoping some of her sibling protectiveness would kick in so she could see where he was coming from.
Jess' head snapped up and her eyes flashed briefly at him. Sure, she was furious at Liam, but he was still her baby brother. She would kill anyone that hurt him, even if he was, in every sense, a cock sucker. She was in a Catch 22 all of a sudden, and she really didn't want to be the messenger. The tears intensified when a helpless fear fueled inside her. Before she could stop it, the words were falling out of her mouth, "Tom and Liam were... they were..."
It seemed that she couldn't bring herself to say the words, and Angus really didn't need her to either. Tom and Liam, in one sentence together, doing something that had her in this state, it was enough information for him. It took all his effort not to storm back over to the stairs and scale them again to beat the freaking shit out of both men. The apprehensive chill turned to a furious heat that spiked through him. "Dinnae," he said sharply. "Dinnae continue that. Just... dinnae." He held both his hands up and backed away from her. It was a struggle to avoid the stairs and elevators. Instead, he stormed over to the glass doors of the building and shoved them open angrily. He couldn't go in this alone, he would end up physically hurting someone. This time, he had to pause rationally... and bring in back up. At least if it came to a need to hurt someone for hurting Stuart, more than one set of hands was going to be necessary in this case anyway.
