CAMP FUCK YOU DIE: STEPHAN DEBUSSEY CASE
Section: Masqué - May 2010 notes
Previous entry. This section refers to the events that occurred in the month of May 2010 as they pertain to the individual known as Masqué and his involvement in the circumstances surrounding CFUD and Stephan Debussey’s murder.
During this period, a group of unknown individuals began to appear within camp grounds. Earliest appearances are unknown, but their activities became more noticeable in the month of May. Aforementioned individuals were usually cloaked; their unifying purpose was the resurrection of Masqué, who they perceived as their leader. Accounts indicate that this group considered themselves a family of sorts, with Masqué as their saviour. Regardless of group dynamics, their purpose in camp and its execution lead to widespread changes and dangers.
The following is a timeline of events related to these individuals and their acts.
06/05 - Mass power outages occur in camp. Group is sighted inside the Mess Hall.
07/05 - Bursts of light resulting in a mistletoe downpour, originating from the Mess Hall.
10/05 - The unknown group begins assaulting campers and counsellors with syringes, infecting them with an unknown illness. Illness is contagious and begins to spread to others who were not injected. Symptoms displayed by those infected resembles a highly virulent influenza.
At this time, the mansion previously thought destroyed in the fires following events of October 2009 reappears in camp. The unknown group appears to use it as a base.
14/05 - All other forms of natural light disappear, including starlight. The only light visible comes from the moon.
→ Note: Whilst the moon had an incredibly abnormal appearance at this time, this is considered normal for CFUD, and should not be confused with the machinations of Masqué’s cult.
16/05 - Mandatory Naked Day arrives on schedule.
17/05 - Masqué’s cult members begin forcibly abducting campers and counsellors, seemingly without pattern. Hostages are taken to the mansion, held in the basement with the corpse of Masqué. A phone line in the basement links to the Director, who informs hostages that she intends to sort out the problem.
18/05 - The Loudspeaker broadcasts a conversation between Elizabeth Sayre and himself. The two are heard to argue about the merits of Sayre’s plan, which seems to involve heading into the mansion itself to face Masqué. Sayre mentions a contingency plan she had modified for use against Masqué’s forces, involving the release of “mutants” into the campgrounds. The Loudspeaker confirms that Masqué was responsible for Debussey’s death and the consequent recruitment of campers. The conversation was abruptly terminated with a gunshot. It is unknown who fired or for what reason.
At this time, a camper-lead group also began an attempt to rescue those trapped in the basement of the mansion.
19/05 - Prisoners begin to be released from the mansion, and cult members start attempting to sacrifice campers in a fire. All attempts fail due to the intervention of other campers. At this stage, a large number of monsters appear from the east of camp and attack the cultists, killing most all of them. It is reasonable to assume these are the “mutants” referred to by Sayre and the Loudspeaker.
Masqué’s mansion caught fire in the chaos surrounding the sacrificial fire, along with several other buildings. Camp buildings remained mostly undamaged, but Masqué’s mansion assumedly collapses during the fires as the worst hit. Actual fate of the mansion is unknown due to circumstances.
Sometime during the night or early morning of the 20th, Camp Fuck You Die experienced what can only be described as a sudden relocation. The entirety of the campgrounds, populace and most fauna were apparently uprooted through unknown means and transported instantaneously to a new location. This location, as opposed to the Louisiana swamplands of the previous CFUD, is situation in farmlands similar to those found in the Midwest USA.
→ Note: The previous barrier that prevented exit from CFUD seems not to have been transported in the same way, or has been altered. Instead of a solid force, the campgrounds are now made inescapable by way of a temporal-spatial loop that moves persons from the furtherest edge of one side of the farm to the other should they venture too far.
→ Whilst it appears that Masqué’s cult was unsuccessful in its attempts to revive Masqué, and the relocation of the campgrounds provides reasonable doubt as to whether all of the previous locations associated with him have made the jump, there remains the question of what prompted this attack and whether it could feasibly occur again. As the laws of death do not apply in this camp, Masqué’s death in October 2009 is an interesting case, as well as a troubling one. What is certain is that Masqué’s involvement in Camp Fuck You Die has been both long and destructive, with the Sayre family as his opposition throughout the 5+ recorded years of camp activity and many years previously.
It remains to be seen if these issues will resurface again in the new location.
((OOC: Once again, this has been written ICly from Klavier’s point of view, using information I REASONABLY assume he could access either himself or from other people. It’s mostly for my own reference as to what he knows, but if there’s any glaring problems with it do let me know. I’ll be linking this and the previous summary at the top of his journal as well.))
