Joris Hoefnagel was a late-16th century Flemish illuminator and engraver who, among many other things, provided the illustrations for Mira Calligraphiae Monumenta which is still in print.

I thank you for that link as I am very interessted in the artwork of that time period, and the 18th century, I think it was a golden age.
