Am I the only one kind of disgusted that not nearly enough noise gets made about the one thing about June 6 that REALLY matters?

you mean the "D" in "D-Day" doesn't stand for "Devil"?

Actually, it stands for Double Cheeseburger. As in, 'Come on boys, let's win this goddamn war alread so we can all go home and get some double cheeseburgers.'

Anyone who says any different is full of shit.

and who says history courses are useless.

"and because of the brave sacrifices at normandy, we can all enjoy copious amounts of double cheeseburgers in peace, obesity, and political apathy."

Don't forget June 6, 1523, when Gustav Vasa was elected King of Sweden, marking the end of the Kalmar Union.

A momentous event in northern european history indeed. I've always been of the opinion that no Swedish Superpower = no Russian reforms under Peter the Great = totally weird alternate history. Alternate history is fun.

I once heard of a novel where the Spanish Armada managed to subdue the British navy and Spain took over the UK, and then Will Shakespeare became like a 1600's British version of Thomas Paine. Doesn't that sound like fun?

I like how the king is elected in Sweden.
