It is another, maybe easier way to get inside of the heads of your friends. They may not be able to say what they are feeling, but they can write it. You can get to know the people better.

you get to think out what other people are going to read about you, instead of blurting out stuff like an idiot when your in front of people in person......... ok thats just me ....

It's a way to unleash you're in soul with the thought that other
human beings are going to see in to the depths of me! And I them!
So I try to choose my words without carelessness and express myself
