Sometimes life is just not fair

I wanted to get some laundry caught up while I'm on light duty, but my dryer suddenly decided to crap out on me, it won't dry the laundry, it just keeps spinning all day, making noises, but not doing the job. And yes, the pilot light is lit. So I know for a fact that the section of duct going through the wall is clogged again, and it's time to get ( Read more... )

ROFL I've passed on that same curse myself! mixter79 June 16 2009, 12:18:18 UTC
Hell yeah, I remember, it came to mind with me a few years back when Tam and I finally managed to get out to dinner and a movie, only to have a bunch of 13-year-olds cutting up and getting rowdy in the theater, which seemed obnoxious as hell until that old guy suddenly appeared out of nowhere and made me look back on a few times in the balcony of the Grove and/or the Crocker, when we'd toss popcorn or candy down at unsuspecting victims, or worse yet, take our straws and drip pop down on them. And I seriously had to wonder, how on earth did we manage to actually see so many movies that we DIDN'T get kicked out of ( ... )

Your memory's slipping, boy. It was two grapefruits, one stuffed down each leg of the panty hose, then swung around my head like a bolero and flung like a goucho would do to take down a stray steer or rabid bull. Or brother chucking cans at you.

Movies, hell, how the hell did we manage not to get kicked out of every store in town and permanently banned? That's the real question.

I'm about 90 percent sure most of the balcony drop stunts were at the Crocker, though, and maybe a few at the theater down near you, because I don't think the Grove ever had a balcony, did it?

I'm once again in awe of your mom for not losing her sanity altogether with you guys! justplaintam June 16 2009, 12:25:27 UTC
So many of the things I've heard about you guys growing up make me count my blessings that I only have one son and one daughter, four years apart, so they only have so much common ground. Two or more boys a year or two apart, I think, would drive me insane in no time at all, and I can't decide which would have been worse, when you guys were constantly punching each other out for one thing or another, or when you got along and decided to work together on one mischievous stunt or another.

Believe me, I'm a lot more in awe than you are, seeing as how I've got six and you guys only have two. I was amazed at how well Golumette used to handle all of them, and they're a lot farther apart agewise then any of us were.

I do wonder a lot of times, though, how my mom managed not to go off the deep end altogether with all of us. I mean, the biggest breather she ever got between kids was like 2 years and almost 2 months, I think, between Brenda and Jeff. And from then on, most of us are more like a year apart, mostly boys. And yeah, multiple boys at once, especially when they're close enough in age to be best friends/worst enemies like we all were is like an ungodly handful from hell. And the church may never officially grant her sainthood, but I think we all do, especially now that we've got kids of our own and can begin to comprehend what she was up against.

So sorry to hear about the tragic loss of your dryer stevegrinetook June 16 2009, 20:29:05 UTC
I'd send you a condolence bouquet, except the pollen would probably clog it up even worse.;-P ( ... )

Condolence bouquet, LOL. I oughta whack you upside the head with a condolence bouquet, wise ass.

Seriously, though, that's a great idea, and I have got a couple of friends with kids who just might be able to handle that one. I'll have to see what I can do about getting one of them over here. Thanks, I appreciate the suggestion.
