Dream occupation

I do not know, how about, “I just can’t wait to be King.”

I mean, I have been groomed to take my father’s place as ruler of Mirkwood since my older brother was killed. There is no other occupation I would rather devote my life to.

Although, there were times when I sat at court and really wished I was not the future king.

Friends/Enemies

Yes there is some truth in that saying, for one should know their enemies. It aid in killing them, ridding their presence from the world. Keeping them close is one way of understanding them, finding their weakness, so when the opportunity comes, you can strike.

On the other hand, it makes for a more sound life, one free from paranoia and fear, if one keeps their friends closer. Friends brighten up your life, and bring support whenever you need it.

I personally would prefer to keep my friends closer than my enemies, because I would not want a Mirkwood spider to come to dinner unless it was in Elladan’s cooking.

Values to children

Recently I found out I have a son. I wish I could have been there in his life, so he could have grown up knowing who he is. Unfortunately that option was taken from me because I hurt the Rohirrim woman I bedded by leaving. The value I would hope to pass on to him is knowledge. Knowledge of who he is, where he came from and what his future may hold, so he can chose his place in the elven realms.

Elladan and I have discussed about adopting a child, once we are used to being bonded (a couple of decades should be enough time). Which would make a wonderful addition to our family.

The most important value I hope to pass on to my children is the love of one’s self. If they are able to love themselves, they can achieve anything.

Lead/follow

There are times when one must lead and times when one must follow. It all depends on the situation, time, and place.

When I am on patrol in Mirkwood, I usually lead because I am a prince of Mirkwood, and have been trained to lead my people in almost any situation.

Alas, there are times when one must follow. I follow my king and my father, out of respect and love. I also followed a hobbit on a journey to destroy the greatest evil in Arda. There were parts of the journey that I was not with Frodo, for our paths on the journey lead in different directions, but I still followed him in my heart.

It is not important which is more prevalent in my life, what matters is knowing when to lead and when to follow.
