A whisp of smoke floats into the room, and the ring on Legolas' finger suddenly turns deathly cold. A line of bright fiery inscriptions appear on the outside of the ring. At first glance, it appears almost like the Black Speech, but not quite. Written in ancient Quenya:

Ouch! Ai what is happening!

*throws the ring off his finger and it drops on the desktop. He rubs the cold place where the ring was on his finger, trying to warm it back up. Legolas looks at the ring and unfortunately does not understand the writing. He takes out a quill and writes down what he can see without touching it.*

This looks like Quenya. *sighs* I should have listened more as an elfling in my Quenya lessons.

*laughs* Oh, how proud lord Elrond would be to have his son bonded to such an illiterate fool!

And why should Elrond care if I cannot read Quenya. From what I hear, Elladan nor Elrohir can read it themselves.

It is a dead language, only read by those that cannot get their noses out of a book.

And I will have you know, Isildur's bane, that I can read Sindarin, Westeron, and Dwarvish, so I am hardly illerate.
