This weekend was the debut of my Leia from Hugh Flemming's "Star Wars Rocks" poster. It's a really fun costume to wear, even if I have to explain where it comes from to almost everyone. I saw Stardust last night! Yay! This is the one movie I've been looking forward to all summer. Actually, all year, since sometime last spring when Neil Gaiman first mentioned it on his journal.

I know what pattern I'm going to use: McCall's 3010, which I already have a copy of (good thing, since it's discontinued).  It's a one-piece gown with an attached split overskirt, pretty much exactly what I was looking for. Since I volunteered to be a part of auroraceleste's Shrek Princesses group at DragonCon, I thought it might be a good idea to actually watch the movie before I make the costume.

I just called FedEx’s 1-800 number to track my package. After being on a FedEx truck since 7:34 this morning, it was finally delivered to my doorstep at 6:04pm. The same time I arrived here at the museum in Ft. Worth. Fortunately, friends are going to pick it up for us since we won’t be home until sometime tomorrow night. Crud. He’s sending the bikini by FedEx. Considering they just lost my (still fairly new!) digital almost immediately after I shipped it off for repairs, this is not good.

Bought my skirt fabric. Wine-colored silk essence from JoAnn’s, for 30% off. Yay for unexpected sales on fabric choices! Also picked up some clear elastic for the sides of the skirt. Now all I need is the suede for the top, and I have my materials gathered.
