Stop doing that! People who don't own dogs always leave the door open wide enough for them to escape. When you have an animal, you leave the door with your right foot blocking behind you.

That's very correct. I concur... misspelled... but I still do it.

Also, I'm a veterinarian's kid and I have worked part-time in my partent's vet clinic since for 10 years. Let me tell you something... letting the cat and/or dog get out is the least stupid, most expected and most normal thing you could do. I don't encourage it and I do urge you to use more caution and watch the doors, but you shouldn't beat yourself up so much. Seriously... people who've owned pets are way stupider. Check my update today. I'm posting in honor of you today... and I never post.
