So here I am attempting to finish reading this stupid-ass story. In the meantime, we're watching a special on The History Channel, about Ab Lincoln. Ya know...the sixteenth President of the United States. The story has made it to like 1831, lost the first love of his life, and is now a State Congressman. Which leads them to start talking about ( Read more... )

Well it's another hour before they get to the assassination and all. But they do say that he and Speed remained friends even after Lincoln was elected President. Speed married right before Lincoln actually, and Lincoln wrote this letter *emoing* about how Speed would be so caught up with his new wife, that he would forget all about Lincoln.

Yeah... then after that he goes through a five year mid-life crisis. Right... I kept telling Puppy it was all because of Speed.

Oh and Mary, total manic-depression there.

Wow... is that still considered RPS if he's been dead for a hundred years?

*snickers* Dude, Speed could have been Lincoln's Heterosexual Life Partner... You never know, but then again, with a name like "Speed"...

Right... HLPs would never do that to each other.

In other news, Lincoln even went about having affairs with the Officers that protected the White House. Seriously, there is real proof of that.

I love the "but he wasn't gay" weirdness that pops up so often in history ~ well, suuuure Shakespeare was probably writing love sonnets to a man as well as his "dark-haired mistress", but he was totally for the ladies. What?

Clearly, Lincoln and Speed -a name I can't even *type* with a straight face- were just good pals. Sharing beds, juice boxes and perhaps the occasional - non-erotic - full-body massage.

. . . I think it's past my bedtime

I had even considered turning the tv off since I was getting bored with all the depression talk. Then that subject came up! Oh yeah, that kept my attention.
