... not that nebraska is a fair shake at san fran, but our appleby's serves fried pickles. i haven't had them, but my daughter's BF swears by them.

i'm sure there's someplace you can get cornmeal batter fried catfish in SF. i KNOW you can in salinas (just south of SF), so it's not unheard of. it just might not taste like what you'd have below the mason-dixon line.

And yet what is so sad, the nearest Applebee's is *checks list* 12.3 miles away, which is in Alameda, which you can't even get to by BART! See how the city tortures us poor souls? *wails* I need a car!

Saya win the lotto and buy me a car!

But thanks for the suggestion... And yeah, there are some things to be said about the food made below the Mason-Dixon line.

How did I know that would be your answer. And Popeye's doesn't use cornmeal, at least I don't think they do...

No idea how old the review is or if the restaurant still exists, though.

Aww thanks! According to city search it is still open. Granted, right in the middle of the tenderloin, so we'll have to stick to trying it out sometime during the day.

*smooches*

Oooh, I know a place a couple hours south of here with the best, flakiest catfish you ever did taste. Farm-raised, too, none of that muddy-tasting stuff they catch in the lakes.

Did I mention it's a buffet?

With two kinds of hush puppies?

Dude it's the mud that makes it tasty!

Two kinds of hush-puppies? *gasp* oh my god I'm so there!
