So it's now, oh, effectively 2 days before con (for you people that want to be literal, 3 days.) Today is the last day for cafe reservations, and by this point I thought I'd seen everything. Truly... until this:

Comments: non-smoking

This was me: o_O

Then I started laughing. WTH people, wth?

Or ever been in the convention space of a hotel? There were so many things that popped into my head when I saw that, but all ended in a wth kinda way.

it's becoming more and more common for restaurants (all food service places) to be non-smoking. but, i recall a couple of years ago, my mom coming here, and the restaurant we went to asked if we wanted smoking or non-smoking. mom was shocked, she hadn't been asked that in a long time. :)

though, i do hope everyone is aware that there's NO smoking in the hotel.

I know! When ever I go home I still get amazed at the smoking/non smoking question. I forget I have a brain when I get asked that, and normally my parents or friends are like "non-smoking please" while I still stand there in absolute "dear in headlights mode".

Normally someone goes, remember, you're not in California any more... and oh don't I know it!

I have one to top you -- I, who have nothing to do with registration (obviously!), get the plea of "I wish you did exchange of volunteer hours with other cons, because I can't afford to register for the con, otherwise."

I'm like, WTF, I'm not reg, nobody does this and unless you worked ToA, yer outta luck. Of which only the latter made it into my reply. ^_^

I heard about that this morning, and I was sitting here thinking, "what, they gonna have the volunteer chair of the other con vouch for them or something?" Oh please! I have to truly wonder sometimes... really, wonder.
