Why does this still happen?

Warning, this is going off on a little rant. It contains a religious action, one that I used to participate in when I was a part of the church but cannot see the value of now. If you are offended by this, I offer my apologies, it will be cut for your protection.

Many people still need a "crutch" to believe in. They need a definitive miracle and divine demonstration of their "gods power". And they will believe damn near anything, or anyone that can give it to them.

But bottom line...

Faith healers and Miracle workers = Charlatans and Con men.

I am not religious, I do not agree with any organized religion, but I do like to think myself spiritual.

Anyway...

I agree with you, it does show that a person cares for humanity when they offer prayer....but it needn't be a public display. I often think that when people do a public display of something like this they are not doing it for the right reasons. Too often they are trying to draw attention to themselves, as you say making themselves feel well by showing others that they are indeed compassionate.

My boss that I have in the afternoon thinks she is a very Godly woman. She'll sit there and tee-hee about some one else's misfortune and then put her hand to her chest and say "Isn't that real Christlike of me?"

There are so many phony "religion-droids" out there that it's just ridiculous!!!

Yeah I agree, when I think of faith healers I tend to think of scam artists.... If they really wanted to help him, they could have given him a sandwich, or a handful of loose change or something.

It's just one of those things. There will always be tyrants, there will always be strife, teenagers will always do dumb things, and there will always be people who fall for religion for any given reason. Some things just never change.

Amen to that, my friend. The more things change, so they say...

GAh, I have nothing against people and their faiths, but if someone comes up and embarrasses ME by trying to touch my head or something, then I have a problem! :)
