Helloooo, last week I finally cracked and asked someone what twerking meant, so I guess that makes me the second to last person on this continent to figure it out? Thanks, Stephen Harper! Anyway, happy September (and happy tv-rewatching), lady!
A minorly funny story: Maybe two or three days before the Miley Cyrus debacle at the VMAs, I looked up twerking on Urban Dictionary, because *I* thought I was the last person in the world who didn't know what it meant. And then the VMAs happened and people were even posting FB statuses about the word. Oh, man. But the mental picture of Harper twerking with Obama was my favorite thing this morning, I tell you.
Happy September to you, too! Do you have super exciting things coming up for you this fall? (I do not; I just like to ask other people if they do;)
Ahaha all the post-VMA chatter is what did it for me! I was like, HMMM, this is actually maybe a mainstream word not just an internet word, prob it's time to seek out the definition. But yeah, the image of Harper and Obama twerking together is just priceless.
Blah no, no terribly exciting fall things, really. Umm. I'm going to Niagara in a few weeks? Am running a half-marathon in about a month? Have a few music and showtune things planned? Will maybe one day finish some cop fic? Likely will eat and drink loads of pumpkin flavored things? Those are varying degrees of exciting, I guess! Are you looking forward to the return of Daryl Dixon and his arms? That is in the falltime, no?
I love ALL the pumpkin flavored things. In fact, I've already got pumpkin ale, which is SO GOOD OMG. I need to get some pumpkin coffee. And all the things you have planned sound excellent, particularly the half-marathon, which is SO BADASS of you.
Yep, TWD comes back next month actually (wow, where does the fucking time go?). And honestly it's just WEIRD, because I'll stop caring at all for a while and then all of the sudden I see like a pic or a .gifset or something like that and I flip out and start flailing all over again. It's also probable that my absolute conviction that Carol will die dampens my joy. SIGH. Do you have shows you're pumped for?
HoC is so awful, yet strangely compelling. I mean, it's really well done. It's the situations and the people who are so awful. Kevin Spacey is amazing, but ew. Claire, OMG. And it's probably this close to being a documentary. Sigh. The soundtrack makes me giggle, though. All the high-tension beats for scenes that are not really that tense.
I think that site is a spoof news site, given that other articles are the new craze for oil sands facial masks and the nutritious lunches we're packing for the invasion of Syria. But, ahahahaha - the image of Harper twerking Obama is awesome, and a welcome replacement for all the Miley Cyrus images that filled my FB.
School started today for us. I don't know what to do first, now that I have my computer back and the house more or less to myself. (Mr. Tiger is working from home today.) I feel like I should go on the treadmilll, but it's already 10:00, so maybe a shower would be in order and then actual work. Good luck tomorrow!
HOC spoilers I guess maybe?leigh57September 3 2013, 16:16:42 UTC
I figured there was a high likelihood of it being something like the Canadian Onion, and yet the idea of Harper twerking Obama made my morning, because I am lame like that. Heeeeeeee

Yup, the first day is one of the few times their schedules line up. Which kind of sucks, because it means I didn't get to see A off, because J and I had already left. Woe.
I found Claire giving the Secret Service dude an aggressive hand job in the hospital more disturbing, personally, but YMMV. Not that the who's your daddy wasn't disturbing Lordy.
The acting is amazing. The relationship between Francis and Claire is so fucked up, yet. Now, THERE is a power couple. "Aren't you going to answer it?" "No, I'm done with work today." Yowzers. (Note my incredible skilz at articulating how I feel about this show. I O U an apology? LOL.)
In a side note, I guess the reason Kiefer was in town was to film a western with his daddy. So they were both here, and I saw nothing. Ah, well. I'm looking forward to the movie. I thought their project was about an ex-Nazi, so it might be confusing.

Yeah, I have to work tomorrow night, so there's a decent chance I'll already be gone by the time N's finished with cross country practice and I won't even get to hear anything about the first day until it's almost time for him to go to bed. SADNESS. They should grow up less fast, man

Is it the Openish Marriage of Claire and Francis that's grossing you out? I find it fascinating. They may not be totally OK with all the extra-martial activity, but see it as a means to an end and a thing that happens.
I have bailed on Under The Dome and Suits. The first because it's boring and I know how it ends. The second because the people in Suits are truly horrible. And the portrayal of women bothers me, they are wear stilettos and tiny pencil skirts. how do they ride their bikes, is my question.
I am STILL working on that House Program. ARGHHHHHH
Stephan Harper Twerking is a mental image I DID NOT NEED.
I'm glad 24 holds up. I am still looking forward to some fresh Canon in '14 despite all our collective misgivings.
Actually, I don't mind Claire and Francis's marriage, because to me that's a very equal playing field. They both know what's going on and they've both agreed to it, so more power to them. The things that made me bag it relate more to one huge spoiler I discovered (if you haven't watched the entire thing I won't get into it) and to the fact that, as I was saying to cybertoothtiger upthread, I don't like the power imbalance between Zoe and Frank. Now granted, they're both using each other too, and I understand that. And I hate them both, so it's very confusing. In sum, I think I just stopped getting any enjoyment out of watching it, and when you hit that point, why would you keep going, right?
The people on Suits are so pretty! I see them on tumblr all the time. I'm pretty sure the women don't ride bikes though;)
The pamphlet? The pamphlet from hell? I'm sorry!
Bwahahahaha, Stephen Harper twerking on Barack. You know you want it:P Or um. Something.
No, I DO NOT WANT Obama and Harper Twearking. And I'm about to have horribly racist thoughts about "Swirling" as in Chocolate and Vanilla, together.
Apologies. I've been binge-watching Orange Is The New Black
I'm pretty sure the women don't ride bikes though;)
See that's what bothers me. The men can bike to work, indeed one character is clearly shown biking to work. but the woman can't because of their clothes. Although some ladies DO bike is tight skirts and heels, so I should just STFU about the whole issue.
I haven't seen either HOC or The Newsroom, but I'm sorry neither of them was one you were able to stick with (but I don't blame you if HOC felt too gross to watch!) I'm glad you're enjoying rewatching Chuck, though! I feel bad that I never got through the Shaw storyline in S3, but it was just really rough for me (plus I was bummed about Anna leaving :P)
MICHELLE JAFHJKASHF I MISS HER SO MUCH AND I MISS REIKO SO MUCH. 24 was such a fucking good show when it was good HOGO WHY WOULD YOU GO AND RUIN SUCH A GREAT THING, ESPECIALLY AFTER YOU'D BROUGHT THE SHOW BACK UP TO GREATNESS WITH S7 AFTER S6.
Yay for storms causing the temperature to drop with the added bonus of a double(ish) rainbow! That's awesome :D I can't wait for fall, either- so glad September is finally here!
CHUCK. The Shaw storyline really did suck though. I still hold that the first two season were magic, and after that they did some good things and some bad things but it was never as fabulous as the first two. I did see all of three and most of four, but I haven't seen any of five. I fail! I have a feeling N is gonna want to stick with it though, so we'll probably watch them all this time. And I can't warn him about anything, because he HATES spoilers, LOL. Also meh, Anna. She's so cute.
MICHELLEEEEEEE is so badass. And awesome. And I loved her in S2 but honestly it was in S2 that I really just GAH, fell for her so hard. She was always so much better than Tony, and apparently she's what made him better, given what a colossal douchenozzle he turned into the minute she hit the lawn. Ugh. Sometimes it's good for me to watch 24 without Renee because I can actually focus on something besides the terrible pain every now and then;)
My toes were freezing at work today, and it was DELIGHTFUL. I hope some of the same is headed your way. ♥

You shouldn't send me this stuff without fic to go with it.
Because now I just want to live in my fantasy world for the rest of the day.
