Holy shit, I just looked at the date and the last time I posted on LJ was December 1st. At least that's what my calendar says. Damn. RL has eaten me, apparently. Or something? Anyway, hi! And in the interest of semi-brevity:

Well, I've moved, as I may have mentioned. I am being brave and trying out the dishwasher! So far it doesn't seem to be leaking or anything.

Still awaiting my couch and a newish TV. The better to watch Jack with.

Don't like my floor lamp and Target doesn't deliver within Canada, so I actually have to get on a bus and go to the mall. Woe is me. My First World Problems, let me show you them.

I'm actually kind of excited about 24. If Chloe is the Edward Snowden figure I will be so happy I can't even.

I did know you moved! I meant like, how's all the moving in stuff going? I'm sure you're still surrounded by boxes, but is it getting any better? Also, so glad the dishwasher isn't leaking:)

I'm probably going to have to blacklist 24 on tumblr, just because I can't deal with all the celebratory stuff going on over there. So much discussion of the show, so much evidence that to everyone but me, Renee never existed. Eh, it's cool. I'm ready to be done, save the fic I write for Adrienne. That show really wrung me out.

I had no idea Target didn't deliver in Canada! Ugh, the mall. Well every now and then it's gotta be done, right? You can be in and out and then not go again for six months:) I'm so glad you're getting all settled in!

Moving is always stressful, even when it goes smoothly, which it has. The place still fills like another planet. It will probably feel less alien when the living room is set up.

Got rid of four boxes today, so there's that.

So much discussion of the show, so much evidence that to everyone but me, Renee never existed.

Also, Audrey will probably show up like China never happened.

I'm still feasting my eyes on Kiefer the Roman. The film may well be terrible, but I need to see it for the the Roman Kievlar alone.

I don't mind the mall, it's just the trip there. I could book a car from the carshare, but I figure the bus is the lesser of two evils. There is a mall I can walk or bike to, but that's not the one with the Target. Blerg.

Moving SUCKS, although I am still of the opinion that optimally, people should do it every three years just to get rid of extraneous shit. But that doesn't mean I want to move, LOL. I think every box you get rid of is progress:)

I wish it were only pissing me off. That would make it so much easier. But it's also giving me some of the best characters I've seen on tv in recent history. However, as I said, I'm pretty sure my fav will be outta here by the end of the season, so meh.

Everybody on tumblr is freaking out over the new GoT trailer! It's been .giffed everywhere.

Tumblr is hilarious when you don't really know anything about GoT. This morning this .gifset appeared and everyone was naked in water. I was like. OKAY!

HELLO. I've heard similar (aaand also harsher) complaints about Allegiant, so probably you aren't mental. The POV switching didn't always work for me, but otherwise I liked it pretty okay. Hope things are good, lady, fictional character distress aside!

Well now I have the first two seasons of China Beach in my possession, so my reading pace has slowed dramatically, LOL.

I don't love the POV switching either, because what I find is that I get too involved to read who's supposed to be talking, and then when it takes me a minute to figure out that it's switched I get confused. Maybe I'm just super stupid. But clearly she had to do that so Tobias can continue talking after Tris dies. Oy. Someday I will learn to like things that contain sunshine and happiness. Or not;)

I'm hanging in! Busy as usual and wanting more snow. How about you?

Yeah totally, that was my issue too. I'd get like pages into the chapter and then be like, why is Tris having this conversation with this person? And then realize, ohhhh it's Tobias, foiled again.

I'm good! Also busy and also wanting more snow. I just really love when it's wintery. Is China Beach also devoid of sunshine and happiness? I don't know a single thing about that show!

China Beach is NOT devoid of sunshine and happiness, but given that it follows the experiences of a nurse during the Vietnam War, it's not exactly all giggles either. The truth is that there are very few eps that don't make me cry, but in the end the way the characters are there for each other makes the whole show worth it for me. It's just a really lovely examination of the way human beings deal with pain. I recommend it so wholeheartedly:)

You know what would be awesome? Alex Baldwin making his growly noises whenever Jack does something stupid. When does this air? I haven't been paying attention.

The thing that pisses me off with TWD is that, while I hate that they booted Carol out of the prison, at least it had narrative possibilities. Which they then proceeded to completely abandon so they could give us second-verse-same-as-the-first of the Governor Attacks the Prison. I mean, if you're going to do that to a character (and two characters, really, because Daryl) then at least follow it up. I'm sure they will, but I have no confidence that they'll do it well enough to redeem themselves.

I'm just waiting for S3 of Sherlock on Sunday. I've been re-reading the books, and the weird thing is, it's like reading really good fanfic. The show has taken over in my brain. Bwah. Benedict Cumberbatch is an excellent Sherlock, even if he is only English hot. It's the best adaptation I've seen. Elementary, on the other hand, completely misses the mark ( ... )

I might watch then;) I actually don't know when it airs, because I am doing everything I can to hide from info about it. I unfollowed all the 24 stuff save Renee/Annie on tumblr, and I don't even go on twitter anymore, so hopefully I'll be mostly safe from info. I think maybe April or May or something ( ... )

God, I suck at LJ these days. I keep forgetting to check it, and now that Gmail has separate tabs for regular mail and social media, I don't check that either. So, sorry for the late reply.

Yeah, well, Benedict is a British actor, and their standards for what constitutes hot or even TV-worthy are refreshingly lax. (I mean, the Anna and Bates bedroom scene? My eyes!) but I think he captures the character really well. Much better than the guy they had on PBS ages ago. He's got that strangely compelling arrogant prick routine down pat. But YMMV. I haven't watched last night's ep yet, but I am looking forward to it.

DA. OMG. It's like they have a checklist of all the bad things that can happen to a person, and are randomly assigning them to the characters. Last week they reached 'R' for 'rape' and Anna's name came out of the hat. Their heavy-handed treatment is breathtaking. "I can't tell Bates, because then he will kill the man, and then he will hang, so I will suffer alone to keep from being alone because no man, no matter how ( ... )

I AM JUST STOPPING BY on LJ for the first time in forever, and I wanted to say that....

1) I took a break from the news too. It has done me good. But I feel guilty.
2) BRANDI AND THE TWINS SINGING O HOLY NIGHT, now it is my fav version and I wish they'd release a Christmas album. I'd listen to the shit out of that. Plus I want the WHOLE SONG.
3) Your TWD fic is beyond amazing and I owe you a for real comment.
4) I'm so beyond thrilled S is doing indoor soccer. And N with the viola! Please congratulate him for me and give them both a giant hug. I miss them. And you, of course. muah.

I am still laughing at S's horrible electric uniform. He loves it though. He went to practice yesterday even though he couldn't scrimmage. Of course, he insisted on staying to watch everyone else scrimmage, and he's going to the game tomorrow even though he can't play. Crazy kid:) Ilu!
