My mind works very linearly, so when I'm reading I have a hard time marking as I go.  If I keep making stops to analyze or take a note I get caught up in all the small details and lose any overall meaning.  When I feel that something is extra important I will sometimes make a quick highlight, or at the very least flag the page to go back to.  Then ( Read more... )

I always have the problem of reading and then not getting anything out of it too. It is very frustrating because I spend all that time reading and then I don’t understand.

Ya I understand that too! I read too fast and by the time i am done with the paragraph I dont understand that I just readed.It gets really frustrating because I have to go back and read it over again

I'm with you on that, it takes me so long to read a chapter out of a textbook as it is, it's just absurd once I start taking notes. It becomes like an afternoon-long ordeal.

Yeah, and then you factor in 3 classes. I live on coffee and about 3 hours of sleep during the semester.

I'm the same way about marking up textbooks and thanks for the half.com idea, i never knew about that site. I'm also the same about reading and re-reading because if something bores me my eyes may continue in a reading fashion while I'm daydreaming about something else.........
