Went up to Nikko to view autumn leaves with two friends today....yeah I know, it sounds nuts..but it's a 'thing' here.  We left at 8am and got back at 6.  Because it was a national holiday (Culture Day) the highways were busy and the road up the mountain was bumper to bumper with cars.  Drove to the top of a mountain to see Kegon Falls...amazing.  ( Read more... )

Maaan you get Sports Day, Culture day, what kinda crazy holidays do they have in Japan?? Also, those pics are gorgeous, who knew Japan had such pretty leaves?!

There are even holidays called 'substitute holidays' that have no purpose other than to give people a 3-day weekend ;) Sweet huh?

The leaves really were beautiful...the red red red leaves are called momiji --basically Japanese maple trees. I took another picture of leaves on the ground that turned out rather well...I'll post that one soon. :)

I wish we had subsitiute holidays!! Well... I guess I shouldn't complain though, being a banker we get a ton of holidays that everyone else has to work on. :)

sounds so officious...'being a banker'...wish I had a real job like that. Waiting to hear how your interview went and if you got the job at the new branch!! :)
