She just flat-out wasn't ready, in any respect. What she really needs is someone who will give her an honest opinion. She shouldn't have taken the gig, or kept it once she realized she wasn't going to be able to do it properly.

I'm surprised the MTV folks didn't check up on her and make some strategic decisions before they started to advertise the hell out of it.

hell, I'm more on when I'm in troupe rehearsals than she was. And I'm sure anyone with an honest opinion would be fired for giving it (which is probably why her life is such a trainwreck right now anyway).

MTV don't care--they got their ratings, regardless of the quality of performance.

I heard Sarah Silverman was vicious in her post-Britney joke set.

People, people; hasn't anybody learned from Michael Jackson? It's a freaking case study of bad judgment run amok.

remember how harsh Sarah was with Paris Hilton awhile back at an awards show? WORSE.

Ending with an impression of Brit's vajayjay. I kid you not.

Maybe I'm just old, but I don't get Sarah Silverman anyway.

3/GET THEE ON A TREADMILL.
And drop those Cheetos. Yeah, I know--I'm one to talk. HOWEVER--I'm not the one who's a pop princess, now am I?

I'm definitely not one to talk, either, but Brit, honey, there's a REASON why "senior" skaters like Katarina Witt and Roslyn Sumner wear longer skirts than current 16-year-old Olympic hopefuls, and it's because they don't have those pencil-thin thighs anymore.

Yeah, I know, you're hardly over the hill at 20-whatever-you-are, but when you look like 2 of your backup dancers put together, a sequin bikini should NOT be your first wardrobe choice. So you're sporting the chunky monkey look right now. Call Tim Gunn and he'll tell you how to hide the poundage. No-brainer, Brit, even for you.

See, I watched the Britt thing last night and oh my god, it was painful in its awfulness. I feel really badly for her. But I do not get the weight comments. I thought she looked GOOD. No, she doesn't have the rock hard abs of steel she used to, but her body looked toned and smooth and she had a little waist and I thought she looked more voluptuous and soft (and therefore hot). I'm not getting the she looked paunchy and flabby and grotesque and fat thing that the media is tossing around.

well, I didn't think she was necessarily grotesque, but that costume was doing her no favors.

I remember reading an article about a former Dallas Cowboy cheerleader (during their heyday in the late 70's/early 80's), and those costumes they wore? She said they had to be at least 15 pounds underweight for their height for those short shorts (similar to Brit's) to look 'correct'.

So, either the treadmill or better costuming?

Indeed. It was really more a matter of Brit being heavier than the backup dancers, who wore more covering and were not in the literal spotlight. When the bright lights are on you, and you want to wear that outfit AND the camera adds God knows how many pounds, you'd better be a twig. If she'd worn something else - almost ANYTHING else - it would not have been nearly as noticeable.
