As I type this, they haven't got the suspect in custody, although it appears cops have surrounded another house (this time in Renton). Word is the suspect WAS wounded by one of the cops, who managed to get several shots off before dying. One rumour is that it's a gut shot (which fulfills one of my wishes, that it HURT LIKE HELL. Yes, that's mean.

I hope they have him this time...and I hope he puts up a fight so they can take care of that little problem with as little fuss and muss as possible. And that a family member would be helping him doesn't surprise me a bit -- down here that is the rule rather than the exception. Doesn't matter what somebody's done, they're family and good folk and couldn't possibly have done what the police say they did. Feh.

see, in my family (at least the immediate family) if we'd done something like this, something so incredibly heinous, our feeling is "Get your ass to the cops NOW. I ain't helping you".

Dad always said if we were ever in deep shit, he'd be first in line to tell the judge to throw the book at us.

Of course, we're responsible people, so he never had to do that*g*

Same here! And the key word there is DAD. You had that kind of father and I had that kind of father, but at least down here, in a large segment of the population, fathers are nowhere to be found, except for the time it takes to deposit their seed. Kids grow up walking all over the mamas and grandmamas who raise them.
