I don't know who you are (yet), but you're awesome. Absolutely, unquestionably awesome. And I say this every year, but the biggest thing you need to know is that I would much rather have you write something you love that only kind-of fits my request than write something you're more ambivalent towards just because you think it's exactly what I wanted. If you're happy with it, I'll be ecstatic.
But you're here for the specifics, so here are a few things you should know about each of my requests:
1. Cornelius Quartet - Michael Moorcock
I said it on my sign-up and I'll say it again: I ask for this fandom every year and I have never been disappointed. Jerry Cornelius is one of my favorite characters of all time and he's what I want. My favorite Cornelius novels are The Lives and Times of Jerry Cornelius and The Final Programme, but you are welcome to take any angle and run with it. Sex, drugs, violence, rock and roll - it's all fair game with this fandom. This is my no holds barred request, basically. Just have fun.
2. Dark Shadows (1966)
I gave you three characters (Barnabas, Quentin, and Josette), but you definitely don't need to fit in all of them. This fandom, sadly, doesn't have much good fic. It has so much potential, but very little of it is realized. So what I really want is something with a bit of depth. Character studies, doomed romance, strange encounters between characters, however you want to take it. The part of me that's still ten years old is a die-hard Barnabas/Josette shipper, so I'd be totally thrilled with that in some capacity, but I really just want to read something that fits in with the gothic horror/romance feel of the show, starring some of the first characters I was seriously in love with.
3. Gabriel Allon Series - Daniel Silva
Okay, this is the request I am completely sure no one will fill, but hope springs eternal. What I'd really like is something that takes place before The Kill Artist, either from his years as an art restorer with no spying, or from before Leah and Dani died. Something that plays with the question of who and what Gabriel Allon really is. You could even take it back farther, if you were so inclined. I'm really fascinated by the duality of his character: he's an Israeli agent and an art restorer, killing people and also restoring old paintings to beauty. If you write me a fic exploring that, I would be happier than I can even say. (And if you've never read the series, you totally should.)
4. Wonder Boys
First off, I'm more a fan of the novel, but I do love the film, so I won't be disappointed if you're only familiar with one or the other. And, like I said in the request form, all I want from this fandom is epic Terry/Grady friendship fic. Terry is my favorite and that friendship is what I love most about the story, so give me more of it. Backstory fic, something from the years they've known each other. Late night conversations, or a horribly botched road trip, or something that's probably never occurred to me but will be totally amazing. As long as it's about their epic bromance, I'll be psyched.
