im armenian and i've never heard that term used. Then again im from glendale where we are known as armos and all sorts of other terms depending on what region you are from.
My parents were probably around during all that too (dad's 56, mom's 54)
This has prompted me to ask my parents about it; never really thought about it either. And this is also why I like having "old" parents. They've been around some interesting stuff.
Exactly! After that discussion section, I WAY wanted to talk to my mom about it. I doubt my dad remembers anything, but I bet my mom does, if even vaguely. I'm glad you wanna talk to your parents about it; it's a hard dialogue to initiate, but I like to think it'd be valuable in some way. If you do end up having a conversation with your parents, I'd love to listen to anything you'd be willing to share of it; this kind of stuff really fascinates me.
You aren't usually targeted for racism... the people like me who walk around with blonde hair and blue eyes are viewed as blue eyed devils. According to history books people like me were the cause of ethnocentrism... I have pride for my race... I look around myself and see all these minorities florishing and it sickens me because now the tables turned but still other races burn us... Hitler's blood flows through my veins... you think I'm proud to have that kind of history? I'm not, but no one will ever think differently... so why not be a racist pig if that is how people will view me anyways? We all know a story about race on race and look what happened there... Me and Katy overcame our supressors but still we will be the ones who are hated even if it was an act of self defense.
I miss our conversations at Wendy's.....=)happysmoothiesFebruary 9 2005, 03:34:49 UTC
"41 years since discrimination has been made illegal" but then you also have to consider the fact that even though the laws were in place, it was a while before they were carried out. Fresno schools weren't desegregated until sometime in the 70's

Good first point - I intentionally stuck to the years in terms of legality since desegregation occurred at different times across the country. I mean, Georgia JUST desegregated their high school dances in 2002, as I remember, so... it's definitely inconsistent. It would've been a much harder task to try to figure out when exactly we will get to say that our country has actually been desegregated

Tim: Anybody wanna go fly a kite with me tonight? I hear it's great weather for flying KITES! I wonder if there's any KITES around here we can fly!
Brian Schwartz: Hey listen, Cavanaugh. It's not kite, it's KIKE! K-I-K-E, "kike." You know, you're too stupid to even be a good bigot!
