This is the text of the City of Orlando's proposed anti-Food Not Bombs ordinance (taken from the City's website). We're not mentioned in it, of course, but we're the only group in the area covered by the ordinance that regularly does "large group feedings." when/where are they voting on this? what can we do to show them they are wrong and to vote no?

this is pretty rediculous and ya'll should definitely rally against it. What I would look out for in the long run is see if this ordinance is selectively used or not. find out about large bbq's that are held(family reunions etc.) that could very well be unpermitted(hell hold some!) if any happen and cops go by and do nothing then this is a selectively enforced law(and like the masking ordinace) I'm pretty sure that means it is unconstitutional and you have grounds to rip it to shreds. Contact NLG or ACLU and I'm sure they can tell you more, but I'm pretty sure I'm right on this.

another thing along those lines that I just thought of. because this ordinance would target things like bbqs, and there is a application fee, that means that this could very effectively keep lower income churches, families, and other organizations from holding events in Orlando's parks. I would think that outreach to lower income churches and organizations and explaining this ordinance to them and it effects on their events could be very effective in building a base of support for opposition to this.
