The last few episodes have reminded me why I got hooked on this show in the first place.
Claire's frightening flashbacks to being drugged by Ethan; Sun and Jin's infertility issues; Locke's daddy issues; and who is Henry Gale, anyway? I love this show.
I'm getting to believe that the island is a mice-in-a-maze corporate or government experiment gone haywire, rather than a literal purgatory (which was one of the first theories promoted during the summer of 2004, before the show premiered). The Dharma Initiative has stocked the island liberally with at least three "hatches" with food, medical supplies, a computer, vinyl records, an exercise bike, and who knows what else.
Sun and Jin could star in their own Lost spinoff and speak Korean the entire time (with subtitles) and I'd watch it religiously. Now Sun's pregnant. I ponder the quasi-romantic triangle between Sun, Jin, and Michael (who is still in the jungle with the Others) and debate searching the Pit of Voles for halfway decent fanfic.
I just wish TPTB would tell us why Locke was paralyzed to begin with. I didn't catch all of last week's Locke-centered episode, so somebody tell me why Helen refused to marry John. The look on his face as he closed the ring box was literally heartbreaking.
Henry Gale is evil. He has to be one of the Others. If not, then he's definitely the creepiest person on the island and I bet he gets killed off next. The ending of last week's episode nearly convinced me that Sayid was going to kill him. And if not Sayid, then maybe Mr. Eko?
Onto more personal stuff...
I think that I'm slowly easing back into the dating scene. Not that I have a 'significant other' or anything, but I think I'm ready for monogamy and plans on Saturday nights again. The problem is, dating is just like a job interview...only worse. However, I do have two prospects. They're both attractive, intelligent men who share some interests in common with me (namely scuba diving). One is Richard, a freelance graphic designer and the other is Lonnie, an architect. I know very little about either of them, though, beyond their jobs. I know that Richard loves Cirque du Soleil and saw their show "O" in Las Vegas. Lonnie was born in Washington, D.C. Richard has some family members who live in Kendall (a suburb of Miami) and Lonnie has a sister. I'm at the point where I figure that 'whatever happens, happens' but I want to take things very slowly. I have no desire to repeat the nightmare that was my divorce ever, ever again.
