Because it's been a whole damn week and shit happened.
Friday
Varnished the kitchen wall for one last time. Started on the side walls, received the washer. After that I went home to pack some stuff for the big moving this weekend.
Weekend
Moved. It was hell, but thanks to mother it all worked out. A lot of stuff is still in the storage area, and putting in the kitchen is going to be one hell of a project. Let alone the floors!
Monday
I got a couple of LED spotlights for in the bedroom, so that the lights there consume 12 Watt as opposed to 200 Watt. Not to mention that the light looks better. Seriously, it's like high noon at 10PM. If there is any particular high point to the whole DIY thing, it's definitely the way the bedroom looks now. The amount of money that will be saved in this way cannot be expressed, but it will be a lot, trust me on that. This biggest consumer will be my gaming rig, the microwave, the laundromat and the freezer. I don't need a constant flow of power from my lights to be significantly adding to that!
Tuesday
Oh goddess, this day is burned in my memory. This is the start of something beautiful and something horrible at the same time. I started on the living room side walls (and finished them, mostly). All that I didn't do were the edges.
Wednesday
I got my body pillow. On one side is a very cute Shampoo in a Chinese dress, on the other a very unfortunate hentai-image of her, which will not see the light of day much. I essentially bought it for the other side, as I didn't have a Shampoo body pillow. I have to admit, I've felt worse about Shampoo merchandise. Painted the edges and repainted the seams in-between the pieces of wallpaper. Got some more purple paint for really cheap - the cash register lady discounted both an old sticker of 20% and the actual discount of 50%, saving me a good €8 (Although my folly will probably end up costing me at least 5 times that amount), which I'm adding to the heap. ; D
Thursday
As it turns out, the second layer on some of the spots looked very clear on the wall. At this point I needed to decide whether I was going to re-paint the whole thing or settle with the horrible blotches. Also, some of the hollow areas beneath the fiber wallpaper were REALLY showing up. I went to the Gamma and got the last two cans of this color they would ever have, and decided to try to cover at least one wall with this. The other will end up in a slightly different hue (hardly, if at all, noticeable probably). I broke my bed (NOT humping my pillow, mind! Completely unrelated! >_>), I got a batch of masking tape the failed at both masking AND taping and found out that curtains are real fucking expensive. I'm probably going to end up buying a small sewing machine, buy the cloth from the marketplace and still end up profitable. Also I scored some discount paint for the hallway. A little warmer blue than I was shooting for but at least €10 cheaper than mixed paint! All I need to hope for is that I can cover all walls with the amount of paint I have. On the more productive side, my brother helped me put up lights in the living room so that I can resume painting even when it's a bit dark outside.
Friday
Painted a second layer on the left wall, and it looks nice again. I'm going to the Gamma tomorrow. I need to see where I can get the cheapest bathroom lighting (the models I looked at will look AWESOME!), and I've got a 20% discount coupon for the paint on the right wall. Started on the hallway walls, and it seems I might just work it out with the amount of paint I have. I'm done with cheering too early though, so that's all I'm going to say about it today.
I scored a lovely Shampoo pic for my moving cards from my friend and fellow Shampoo fan Philippe. All I need now is a pic of myself in front of the place and we're in business. I don't intend on sending the cards before the place is done, anyway. XD
