(I'm drunk and havent read the rest)
This line....it puts an importance to the air raid siren she has become used to. Why would it now sound like the angel of death. and this angel is a horrible speaker cause he goes on and on...make this sound cut (knife analogies or seem ritualistic I say.
Every tuesday they test the emergency siren. It is used for all emergency including air raids. I quite enjoy the sound in the middle of my astronomy class
