Tonight I didn't watch the debate, at first. In my household we had to watch the Twins play the Yankees first. Of course politics seeped into everything, because there were about 4 republicans to 3 democrats. But that's not the point of my story, one republican in particular I can debate and talk with really respectfully and we don't raise our ( Read more... )

Of course he did. I don't know why people were so worried, and telling me he had to be so likeable. He is likeable. And Bush is an angry spoiled bastard. No problem. I'm sure the BBC will have plenty.

Yeah I saw the beginning. Then I decided to learn to code so I will watch more later.. It seems like he did ok. To me it is a surprise people really go for that "He keep changing his mind"- crap when it should be a good thing that a person learns from their mistakes. Bush never seems to learn, he just invents new excuses.

I'm glad you spoke up to the girl. if she was quiet and akward, I hope that's because she was seriously evaluating herself.

One can hope. Although I hope I didn't come across too mean just because then that doesn't really solve anything. She then says to me "Well what then am I supposed to say?" I said and this other girl and I rang out at the same time "lesbian!"

So does the word dyke work sort of like "nigger".. you can only say it if you're one? Because I hear the word dyke a lot in movies and tv and I am really not sure how the word sounds to a native ear. My English skills are limited when it comes to things like these.

Well, we had a discussion along those exact same lines last night. I don't think you can only use it if you are one, but she said it not nice whatsoever, and meant it (in the word and the context around it) to degrade this girl she was talking about. So that's when I had to say that she said it with a very derogatory tone, and that I couldn't stand for. Does that make sense? That's an excellent point though.

Thanks for standing up to her! I work with a girl that makes racist comments, and comments against gays and she works with two gay people! I am still surprised by how ignorant people can be, and they assume that everyone shares their views. I'm glad she felt quiet and awkward, imagine how she made other people feel.

Did my letter arrive yet? Hugs!
