i remember that place. i used to spend a lot of time there on my days off. how HORRIBLE, that is literally one of my worst nightmares. i will see what i can do.
Reading this makes me nauseous. I'm trying to come up with words, but I can't find any. This.. If we weren't on the other side of the country, I'd offer to foster. I use to volunteer at the Humane Society over here and our family pets are all adopted or taken in strays. (Now I forever have a fondness for Persian cats because once a whole flock of them were rescued from an irresponsible breeder; they were the sweetest cats I've met.)
Give me a couple of minutes. I'll be sending my donation over.
Thank you for the donation and kind words! It's always good to hear from others who have a soft spot for shelter animals (your little story about the Persians cheers me up for some reason; thank you). I'll try to get your sketch done soon.
It really does seem like everyone is banding together to get BEBHS back up on its feet, thankfully. Here's a link to the BEBHS Emergency Relief community on facebook, just in case you are interested in taking a look.
All my cats have been strays that I picked up, and I wouldn't have it any other way. I spent the majority of my childhood bringing miscellaneous animals home (including experiment mice from science class hitching a ride in my lunch box). Apparently my mother during her youth had this same tendency of collecting stray cats in Taiwan. Must run in the family. *chuckle*
I'm glad. The recollection made me feel better for some reason too. (Before that incident, I always thought Persians were these (somewhat ugly) high maintenance breed with poor attitudes. But a couple hours minutes in with the ones that came in and they have forever won my heart. By the end of my shift, I wanted to take them all home with me, hahaha

(If you'd like to do a sketch, something cute/sweet of Avatar [crazy facial features/shape/proportions ref] and Luckie [correct hair style], even just a quick bust of them head-bumping or nuzzling is fine.)
I'll see if there's not more I can do.
