i don't know why, but i read this poem as fast as i could. almost a slam poem with satire and specific pauses. i don't know if there are intentions of it being that way (and i don't mean to sound egotistical in myself), but it sounded pretty cool that way. just thoughts...
regardless of how it's read, it's clever and sad and beautiful all at the same time.
Wow. that means a lot to me, as I love and admire your work every day you post. I'm really glad for your feedback and, yes, this was meant to be a slam poem... I cannot express how flattered I am that you, of all people, took the time to comment. Thank you so much. Any advice to be as good as you, lol?
knowing that some of the intentions of the poem could be identified, it shows that you did even better work.
i'm flattered that you feel flattered, but honestly, don't be so surprised. work like this deserves recognition.
i have no advice to be "as good as me" except to always keep writing. i was busy as hell this summer and going through a dry spell of creativity at the same time, but i kept writing, even if it was only three lines a day. it's something that means a lot to me (and obviously to you, too), so you have to make it a part of your daily life. even when the mind has no words to share, you have to find them by reading books or looking more closely at lyrics or watching the birds on the cattails outside. there is inspiration everywhere, and sometimes writer's block means nothing more than the fact that you haven't looked around enough. there are stories to be told everywhere.
