most non pot smoking Americans are too lazy to grow any of their own anything as it is. I doubt legalization would prompt many people to start tilling their backyards, let alone potheads.
But if they're already non-smoking, then they really don't enter into the equation, do they? I agree that the homegrown movement would be small compared to people who would just want to buy it, but you're forgetting how enterprising people could be. If legal, I wouldn't have a problem growing weed to sell to my friends and coworkers, and I wouldn't have to jack up the prices for advertising. The key to inflated weed prices (and to the current state of tobacco prices) is taxation, not advertising. By enforcing old taxation laws reguarding marijuanna from pre-prohibition times, the government would get a sizable chunk of the industry's profits while keeping startup weed operations at a minimum.
