Poll: What breed is Oscar?

So, Oscar is working on his therapy dog cert, and his animal assisted crisis response cert (therapy dogs that can work in disaster settings, like working with survivors of school shootings, natural disasters, etc). I never know what breed to call him when people ask, and more importantly on his paperwork. He was a stray, so no background info. ( Read more... )

He looks similar to my dog Tuffie in the face but their markings are different and she is smaller. While we had her out someone asked if she was an AmStaff mix. I looked them up online and she does resemble them more than labrador/rottweiler. I would say AmStaff mix since he looks similar to Tuffie in the face.

i'm not an expert on dog breeds at all, but i can definitely see some kind of am staff in his build. and he looks like he does have some bulldog in his face. so, i would go with am staff mix.

pps; i love how he has a T on his back//butt!

When you said he had a T on his back I had to go check. It is actually his white tail making the stem of the T. But it does look funny

Congrats on working toward certification. :] I'm hoping to do that with my Frances, someday.

I'm conflicted on this because he SO looks like he has Am Bulldog in him, but he's so blocky like an Am Staff. I originally put Am Staff/Am Bulldog mix, but I'm not sure he doesn't have something else in him. He's such a huge boy, especially for not even hitting the 2 year mark. And I love his markings! :]

He looks more like an American Bulldog to me than any other breed, but I'm not sure if he's pure American Bulldog. I have a friend that has a pure Am Bulldog and your pup looks just like him in the build and face. I always considered them to be "chunkier" (blocky) versions of pit bulls, lol.
