Our grass is doing so well, I had the honor of cutting it for the first time yesterday. It was a pretty delightful experience. I could get used to that.
Pictures forthcoming, of course.
Today's song comes to you because of a recent urge I've had to purge songs I don't like from my computer. A couple years back, I downloaded a number of large sampler packs of musicians performing at the SXSW festival in Austin. It was an outrageous influx of hundreds of songs, by hundreds of different artists, all with nothing in common. As you can imagine, there were a lot of lemons in that crop. SXSW draws a lot of good music, but a lot of bad too. Certainly, it wouldn't be an understatement to say that well over half of these recordings I don't ever feel the need to hear again. So I was going about trimming the wheat from the chaff. The process has been long, but it allowed me to reconnect with those I'd forgotten I'd liked.
Today's artist, AA Sound System caught me by surprise, cause the band name seemed indicative of something more electronic. Instead, on this track, Laissez Faire, I was surprised and pleased to hear some guitar, vocals, and light percussion. Don't let that fool you, there are electronics at work here, but build later in the song, and they're subtle and don't tend to draw attention to themselves.\
