Today, Erika and I leave Los Angeles, and head northward, up highway 395 towards Mono Lake. I'm excited at the notion of getting on the road, and exploring the eastern Sierra Nevada.  I'm hoping we'll be able to stop at Red Rock Canyon State Park to satisfy my geology interests and Erika's keen on a visit to the old gold mining ghost town, Bodie.  ( Read more... )

Today, I'm attending the wedding of my friends Dave Johnston and Tara Hernandez. In a dramatic move that I've often wondered about (but never actually heard of anyone doing), the couple are combining their names, and becoming David and Tara Hernston. I suspect that I'm more anal about the organization of my music collection than most people.  I like to make sure that everything is accurately labeled, with proper dates and track listings.  I like to apply album art when I can, and I've even built my own complex genre system in an attempt to more accurately cover the breadth of my collection ( Read more... )
